Or why it’s taken me so long to drag my butt back to the keyboard and post something…
I know it’s been a while. I can only imagine what this has done to my ratings on Google… Haha, I think my site must have gone from “barely noticeable” by their search bots to “you’re never going to be read by the public again!” Not that any of this matters actually. I’m not sure I ever really had the intention of making this website an internet-breaking, visit for the latest and greatest trends kind of site. Those kinds of sites take a lot of work and dedication, and I would rather focus my creative efforts on other projects. (Let’s be honest – I would rather flake off and read a book or go for a long walk).
Enough philosophizing on why Google won’t index my site highly (for those of you with no clue – it’s because I haven’t posted in a long time. You need to be consistent and relevant to get high search ratings.)
The reason why I haven’t written is a long list of sorry excuses. My last post was in August before we went away on vacation, and I had every intention to write while I was on vacation but then it got too hot, and there were too many things to see, and there were no screens on the windows so I couldn’t write at night without letting a billion bugs into the cabin, and then I wasn’t sleeping well because of the heat, and then I couldn’t write while I was sleep deprived… When we got back from vacation, I had a bunch of cleaning up to do. Then I had to focus on my final project for school, and now I have a super part-time/casual employment situation going on (I’m finishing up a project now – so obviously this is just an excuse and not a real reason like my hands fell off). Then it seemed like it had been too long to write a new post. And then I went through a phase where I wasn’t particularly motivated to cook, so the food I was cooking was really simple and didn’t seem worthy of a blog post. On and on.
The real reason why I haven’t written in a long time: our townhouse was listed for sale while we were on vacation in August (it’s easier to sell a house when you’re not living in it. Read: you only have to clean the place once before you leave, instead of before every showing; ultimate laziness or genius? I’ll let you decide. I’m leaning towards genius though!)
We were preparing for a move to: Toronto.
And just like that, 6 months later, we’re now living in Toronto (or just north of Toronto. Or “Toronto-adjacent” if you’re trying to up-sell in real estate terms). This is more along the lines of why I haven’t been writing. 2 inter-provincial moves in 2 years is not for the faint of heart my friends! I can finally see the light shining through the moving boxes and have cleared up enough space to actually move around the house. So I’m back at it! More recipes to come!
